Dis-Orient

The project is a Unity game design. By entering different doors, the player experiences rotation in space to reimagine physics, space, and orientation to explore impossible architecture.

01 Inspiration

We borrowed some ideas from Dancing Tonite and Relativity, where the space orients and the player’s angle of view changes when clicking and on moving. Also, inspired by Monument Valley, we are interested in the dis-orientation in space and would like to dig deeper into this topic in this project.

02 Step

Design the Space

We designed the space as a cube with 6 faces: each of which can be a ground floor with certain trigger. On each wall, there are 2 doors that the player can enter.

One cube, 6 orientations

Design the Interaction

There are 12 doors in total, and they are matched one to one as the portals and target destinations of each other based on the following rule.

On entering a door, the cube rotates

The wall the player enters becomes the floor
