My Challenges in This Project
The time was limited, while the project has complex context. It was challenging to reorganize the information and streamline the workflow. Also, there are many technical and data details to confirm with the engineer team and data team to ensure the feasibility. I need to multi-task and collaborate with cross-functional teams, consider the needs of different stakeholders in the process of design iteration.

RESEARCH
CONTEXT
Changes are in need due to the enlarged management scope
Our department finished an IOC 1.0, which was to apply to one single building. The main challenge this time is the enlarged management scope, which brings a series of changes in need.
3 Major functions
Through communication with different stakeholders and secondary research including reading management reports, I summarized the 3 major functions of office building management:
01 Data Analysis: collect data for real-time management and data-driven decision making
02 Alert Management: monitor the buildings for emergency management
03 Asset Management: manage digital and tangible assets

USER INTERVIEW: IDENTIFY USERS, THEIR GOALS AND OBSTACLES
I conducted 6 interviews with representative stakeholders including operators, security staff, and real estate managers to better understand their needs for each of the 3 main functions.

How We Collaborate
I made a list of relevant techniques that may be needed in the design, then I organized the group to review and discuss the list, and narrow down the functions based on technical feasibility and desirability. Finally, I generated this actionable function list.
AI Tracking System
The operator can get real-time location data of the security staff to keep track of the work progress.

AI Alert Reporting System
With a huge amount of alert data and a camera system, alerts are located and captured automatically.

All-In-One, No Jump Back-and-forth
Instead of jumping back and forth between the mobile phone and laptop to assign the work, the operator can call the security staff directly from the web system

Due to the time limit, and because 1.0 and 2.0 have overlapping flows, we decided to take the basic structure of 1.0 low-fi and make changes accordingly.

After presenting the design in product review meetings to the inner team, and reporting to the client, I made some changes to improve the user experience.

Add the manual report flow as a double protection
The system now relies solely on the AI reporting system, which can be misleading. To double-secure the safety, I added a manual report flow. This also serves the AI model training purpose by providing more real data.
FINAL DELIVERY
The design was made in Chinese. For the purpose of authenticity and originality, I didn’t change the language of the user interfaces. But I added notes in ENGLISH for your accessibility. Enjoy! :)
